Cary, NC

The project is a sunroom and deck addition in Cary, NC.  The owners who intend for this room to become the place within their home that they primarily occupy.  To fulfill the objective of the owners to have a space that is filled with light, the addition is mostly composed of glass, with large windows and several skylights.   Since the addition is located at the south-facing side of the house, the windows and skylights will be operable and will feature shades to provide for comfort throughout the various seasons and times of day.  A steel moment frame was required in order to overcome structural challenges due to the existing house construction.
